Artist's Comments

This is the Marvel character, Thor, who in one of those alternate universe comic titles, got turned into a female for reasons unknown. I call her Thora, because I'm clever that way, ho, ho!

Come to think of it, I have no idea why I sculpted her. I don't think she was ever manufactured. Perhaps it was just a way for my bosses to gauge my skills. I had the most fun with her braids and the wings on her helmet. Or at least I can say that in hindsight. I think at the time I was more like, "#@*%! braids and wings!!"

I should say that I only sculpted this, I didn't paint it. A very talented painter at the studio, Cory Hicks, gets credit for that!

Thor(a) belongs to Marvel

I'm glad it arrived in piece when I shipped it to you. I still have a coldcast Bronze version of this sculpt you did on display with a bunch of other sculptors work I collected over the years. Yes - it was to gauge your skills and yes - you aced it.

Great job on this one...Cory did a really good paint job on it as well. I really hope you pick up the clay again.

Yeah, it was completely intact, thanks again for sending it over! And thanks for the explanation of what it was for, I'm glad I passed the test!

You know, I still can't for the life of me remember Cory's last name (and oops, I spelled her name with an i up there, I guess I should fix that!) And yeah, I should start sculpting again, I miss it!

Hicks....that was her last name.
